Miss AK 14 yr old female came for treatment for her congenital Hypothyroidism. Her weight was 77.8 kgs and was taking 175mg/day of Eltroxin at a young age of 14 years only. Her menses were irregular, delayed by 45-60 days. She also had a bilateral squint. Doctors advised her surgery at the age of 18 years. She appeared more than her age due to her physique and weight. Due to her thyroid disorder, all her beauty had gone. She began treatment in July 2009 at HomoeoCARE Jallandhar. Her TSH was 6.941 in 2008 despite taking Thyroxin 175mg per day. After 3 months of treatment in September TSH became just 0.36, showing that the gland had started to work and hence does not require the push of TSH. So next step was tapering off allopathic medicine which she was taking since childhood. So her thyroxin was reduced and subsequently as thyroid profile improved it was tapered off. Despite reducing the tablet, the patient did well and the TSH never went above 7.
After treatment at HomoeoCare.
Weight stopped increasing rapidly, stayed at 77.7kgs. Her swelling reduced which never subsided despite thyroxin 175mg per day. Everyone was amazed when her squint also started to improve. Doctors now suggest that she may not even need a corrective surgery. Her menses are appearing regularly. She is active in the classroom and participates in sports activities at par with normal kids. Her own thyroid is now producing the hormones required by the body and therefore she is not dependent on artificial thyroid hormones from outside.
